This Namji figure from northern Cameroon presents a restrained and highly controlled interpretation of traditional bead-adorned forms. Constructed on a carved wooden core, the surface is wrapped in natural fibre and densely covered with finely arranged beadwork in muted, earth-toned hues. Unlike more vibrant examples, the reduced palette introduces a sense of cohesion and quiet sophistication, allowing the form and texture to take precedence over colour. Vertical alignment of metallic elements along the torso creates a subtle axis, reinforcing balance and symmetry within the composition. Additional metal accents at the ears and chest introduce contrast, punctuating the otherwise continuous bead surface. The facial features remain minimal and stylised, consistent with Namji sculptural tradition, where identity is conveyed through form and adornment rather than expression.
